Welcome
Created at the entrance greeting guest into Omni International Amusement Park in Atlanta, Georgia. It was one of thirty or more pieces worked on that year for a Hollywood production company.
Composite of materials with lacquer finish. 17' x 16' x 4' Private collection.
This was my first opportunity to work on a monumental piece. 17 ft. high, arms outstretched 16 ft. really gave me an appreciation of how the technology affects what we can accomplish. The same is of course true for architecture.
An outstanding event occurred within me as I was carving the thigh mussels on one of the legs. I felt the spirit energy move up my spine like like a laser beam and go up into space, into another dimension where I heard the music of and saw the beings of Beethoven, Mozart, Michaelangelo, and a host of others greeting me and smiling at me. The acceptance as a peer was overwhelming.
The event has occurred many times since then as engaged in the creative process. Of course never the same but of the same quality. The constant hammering, or rhythm of the beat becomes a drum or mantra moving one through and beyond fatigue into meditation and eventually saw that I wasn't going up but that grace was raining down upon me. This especially arrives while dancing; my favorite meditation technique.
As soon as this piece was finished I left for India in search of a Master and was rewarded by going to the feet of Baghwan Shree Rajneesh, a Tantric Master.
Monumental sculpture can work one to death, the death of the ego and a resurrection into the dance of life.
